Black Frog 3 Whiteley FC 8

Whiteley FC's second away game of the season saw us play Balck Frog at Alexander Park.

With Damo naming an unchanged team from the previous week that saw them thrash Cosham Blues 7-3, we were looking to send out a clear message to the league that we mean business!

With Black Frog winning the toss, they kicked off and laid the ball back to their defender. A quick couple of passes saw their midfielder a good 40 yards from goal try his luck with a massive right foot drive. Even with the wind against the ball sailed over Dan's head and we found ourselves one nil down with only twenty seconds gone on the clock! After a brief word of encouragement we set about trying to get an equaliser.

With a great through ball from midfield, Rosey ran through on the goalkeeper who had hesitated in coming to collect the ball, just as he tried to get his hands on it, Rosey managed to get his foot to the ball and knock it over the line.

We started to dominate the game with both Jason, Aidan Marv and Kev working hard in midfield, Rosey and DS Jones defending from the front, and the backline working well and keeping Black Frog out.

Just as the script had not been written in the previous game, the same can be said for this game.. Enter DS Jones....

Jas collected the ball in midfield and, with a defening roar from DS Jones, he placed a superb through ball which DS ran on to. With only the keeper to beat, he steadied himself and placed a great shot low to the keeper's left hand side to make the score 1-2.

Another great move a few minutes later saw Aidan played in on the left side of the box. He cut inside and ran in on the keeper placing a composed low drive into the bottom right hand corner of the net, leaving the keeper no chance.

The game was starting to move out of Black Frogs reach with Whiteley FC playing some superb football and breaking down their attacks. It wasn't long before Rosey got his second of the game. Again, the ball was played down the left side and Rosey cut in on goal and hammered a left foot shot past the keeper and into the bottom corner.

With Black Frog looking like they would be happier if full time was approaching rather than half time, it was time for DS Jones to show why his rich vein of form was going to continue as he notched up his second of the game. With the ball played up to him in the air, DS Jones brought the ball down and with no hesitation, smashed the ball into the top left corner leaving the keeper no chance.

With Whiteley FC keep having to ask the referee for the score, he finally blew his whistle for half time. Whiteley FC were winning 5-1.

We got ourselves refreshed had a quick chat and went back out for the second half.

Black Frog came out and started well, it wasn't long before they had pulled a goal back. With some slack defending their midfielder floated a high ball into the box, their striker ran onto the ball and scored past Dan from close range. 2-5.

Whiteley FC responded quickly and put the game out of reach minutes later. DS Jones who had been chasing everything up front with Rosie, raced on to a back pass, the keeper came out and tried to clear the ball. Jonsey had closed the gap to within two yards and jumped and turned his back as the keeper tried to clear his lines. The ball whacked into DS Jones arse and bounced in to seal a well deserved hatrick.

Having scored his hatrick, DS Jones did not rest on his laurels. With a long throw up the line from Damo, Aidan flicked the ball inside with his head. DS Jones picked up the ball and cut back in between two defenders making his way to the edge of the box. With a quick turn, he hit probably the best goal of the day as he unleashed a shot that bent away from the keeper and flew into the top corner. Great goal.

With ten minutes to go, another long throw from Damo saw Aidan spin on the turn and hit a half volley over the keepers head and into the roof of the net. 2-8

Adding a little pressure, Black Frog were repeatedly kept out with good work from Leroy, Paul and Simon (a colossus in defence). However, it wasn't long before the ref had pointed to the spot for a penalty as Maybe, trying to control the ball from a corner saw the ball bounce up and strike his hand. The striker notched up his hatrick with a well taken penalty that Dan was unlucky not to palm over the bar. 3-8.

With seconds on the clock, Black Frog had a free kick from the right side of the box. Damo told Dan he would cover the back post just in case. They played the ball short before their striker curled a ball directly at the top corner, with Dan beaten Damo managed to just get his head on the ball and divert it over the bar for a corner. Great clearance, should have got man of the match for that one!! ;0)

The referee blew his whistle for full time shortly after and we had won another game with a superb scoreline. DS Jones had scored another four goals, making that eight in two games, with everyone putting in a performance to justify why they had been selected. With the man of the match votes in, it was very close between Marv, Kev and DS Jones, but Kev won it, having put in a great performance, and some flying tackles. well done Kev, and well done boys, great result.
